Friday Fives, 3.8.2024

Hi from Costa Rica 🇨🇷 It’s been such an adventurous experience being away for almost a full month now.

1. After a full month away, I can say there are a lot of things I’m like dang I miss that. Food staples, my red light sauna sack, my work setup (standing desk and comfy chair), my fav coffee shops, my cats 🥹, Target. The days are just different. Kids are up two hours earlier than usual so I don’t get much time to myself to exercise, think, etc. And after work Zach needs a break so I go right into parenting through bedtime when I promptly fall asleep around 8. I don’t love that rhythm of feeling depleted by 8. But the pros of the trip still outweigh the hard stuff. It’s been amazing to be surrounded by warmth and life!

2. It’s International Women’s Day and my pride is swelling. I love being a woman, I love the women in my life. I love leading a company as a woman in a male dominated field and doing it different.

3. We fired someone last month and it just sucks. People don’t talk about this part of running a company, making these super hard decisions. I had a chance to share with the team how we make these decisions so we can keep people feeling safe / secure as often as possible! There are a lot of truly wonderful things about running this company, but let’s not forget it is not always energizing!

4. Icymi, I’ll be hitting the socials regularly with content around local marketing as most small business marketing is a miss when it comes to local. Small businesses are defined as having 1-1500 employees and a revenue of up to $42 million. Sometimes advice for SMB marketing overlaps with local marketing but I find there are tactics that can supercharge awareness and sales over others and y’all know I basically live breathe die trying to find ways that drive local spending. 5. We are off to Monte Verde for a few days and wrap up the last 1.5 weeks in Tamarindo. I’ll be coming back with approximately 2837483 new freckles ☺️
