Hi. My son is turning 1 this weekend so excuse me while I get emotional. Jess dropped off the desserts and I am ready for a fun weekend with our fam.

1. Did you see the simple, beautiful ring I recently got mailed to me? It was my great grandma Eldora’s and it’s lovely (and it fits like a glove). I feel so much abundance in my life lately — a lot of it I’m intentionally choosing to create and see, but this affirms the goodness I am surrounded with.

2. I took a pic of this meal and it it looked dumb so I won’t post it but this tofu / broccoli dish was incredible. I’ve really been leaning into plant based lately which has felt very satisfying.

3. Becoming the ultimate sports mom & wife.

4. I shared on Instagram this week some of the challenges of scaling Hummingbirds in Des Moines with individuals who have actively made a point to not support (I have examples but don’t feel the need to share people’s poor behavior lol). I was met with dozens of responses from other business owners who have felt the same. Maybe we expect more or too much from our community.

Ultimately, I was trying to share some of the harder parts of growing a business. Things are honestly going really, really well (we just hired a Head of Product & Engineering and opening up two software developer jobs!!!!) but it’s not all sunflowers and poppies you know?

5. DON’T BE LIKE ME and stop yourself from getting the rumble seat. Or do, I mean it’s your choice. But I figured since Penelope was almost four she wouldn’t want to be a stroller kid but she still loves it so we got the rumble seat for our Uppababy stroller and it is simply the best.
