Fri-yay! I’m excited for all things Des Moines this weekend like World Food Festival, The Water Ride, and Ingersoll Live!

1. It’s our 11th year of hosting The Water Ride, an event that I helped start back in 2013. When I got home from biking across America back in 2012, I realized that one summer of biking we could raise $50k for clean water projects in Kenya, why not create the same impact but in my own city.

I found The Move Project nonprofit that was doing amazing work in Ghana and pitched the idea and we’ve been hosting this event ever since. What started as a clean water effort has led to incredible community development work that’s created multiple wells, a school, funding teachers and so much more. I’m so grateful to be part of something so meaningful. Consider joining us at Confluence at noon (even if you don’t want to ride and only want a beer!) or donating if the spirit moves.

2. Elephants, not unicorns spoke to me at a soul level. I’m stoked to be part of the startup ecosystem and operate at such a different frequency than what people normally see/perceive of startup founders.

3. This quote hit me this week too (ok and this one). There are a couple areas I’ve been avoiding my intuition and it’s time to stop.

4. You’re just here for the backyard landscaping updates aren’t you? Ok fine here’s a before and now during.

Once I got a pretty good idea of the size, snagged this Article table and matching chairs / bench because I’m here for the Labor Day sale prices. Now all I want to do is buy cheese and crackers and host everyone I know.

5. Allbirds just announced a new pair of shoes, the Courier and I’ve officially added them to my payday purchase list. Yes, I have a payday purchase list because I am a big YNAB girl (almost been a YEAR of using it and I log in almost daily to organize!!!!).
