Friday Fives, 8.23.2024
Another beautiful Friday on the docket. I have a morning of meetings and then the most beautiful word on my schedule: BLOCK. Eager to knock off the tick-tacky things that build up and also do a solid 90 minutes of deep work.
1. I did the thing where I had the intention to do something very similar with my hair for my appointment this week and then ended up chopping it all while adding a bit more blonde. I’m really leaning into the waves and figuring out how to embrace what I have. But/and, because I didn’t get too many layers, I’ll still be able to straighten it and try other things. I’m v pleased with this!!!!!
2. Not sure who needs to hear this today but the peaches are juicy and perfect. We got a little basket of them at the downtown Davenport Farmers Market last weekend while we visited and then went back the next day for more. We also hit up Armored Gardens and 392 Caffe for those of you who may be in the area and need a couple recs from happy tourists.
3. Still fundraising for Above + Beyond Cancer!!! Even a dozen or so of you reading who donates $25 can help me get closer to my goal. If you’ve been touched by cancer in any way, this organization provides incredible support with their programs, trips, and resources. I could not be more proud to align with this org this year!
4. My kids both had their half birthdays this month so I officially have a 1.5 year old and 4.5 year old. Penelope goes to preschool for full days in a couple weeks and Lincoln is…. loud and happy. It’s a fun, busy, active, emotional phase of life. I crash hard at 8 p.m. most nights with the intensity of work & parenting and managing everything life throws in-between. I’m eager to get out of this intensity while also cherishing the sweet moments these little humans create.
5. Tomorrow is The Water Ride! Y’all who know me know I worked with an amazing organization The Move Project to put this on starting in 2013 to raise money for clean water in Ghana. We’ve successfully hosted an event every year since then and raised $ for water wells, building a school, and hiring teachers. See you there!!!
