Happy New Year!!!! Feeling all the wonderful feelings that go into entering a new year, a new quarter, and a new month.
1. I spent the last couple weeks deep in strategy & goal setting mostly for Hummingbirds but there were some really great chunks of time spent on personal goals as well. A lot of my framing for goals is around how to feel energized and really experience all of life. I then took those goals and added monthly supportive actions into the Notion template from Jules Acree I swear by.
On the whole, most of my energy goes into parenting & running Hummingbirds but I added a few fun things in there like committing to trying 10 new recipes, reading 2 fiction books, and hosting a couple fun parties for my littles who both have birthdays in February.
2. No one expected it but your girl bakes. I woke up to my typical 4:30 a.m. alarm today and came downstairs to do some final bread stretching and mix my overnight oats which is making my house smell sooooooo good. These cinnamon rolls featured below were a hit last weekend. Can’t wait to convince everyone I know to bake bread.
3. Ok back to 2025 plans. I’ve got sooooo many trips planned including Vegas, Austin x3, Albequerque to Tuscon roadtrip, Indianapolis, Great Smoky Mountains, and (if we hit our goals at HBHQ) NYC end of June. Cooking up a few more adventures for the second half of the year but this feels like a very good start. Expect sky photos and lots of new pics with film & my new Fujifilm.
If you have any YOU MUST DO THIS type of recs, shoot me a PM or DM!!!
4. NYE was spent in the yurt above. It was super cold minus under the blankets which was very warm so on the whole def recommend. It was an Airbnb listing just outside Perry. I think it would be fun to do a girls outing halfway through the year 🤩
Before we made our way out there on NYE we stopped by Chikin Lickin in Waukee and ate this delicious Korean friend chicken I highly recommend!!!!
5. Do you ever look at the moon with complete awe and wonder? In the last couple years, I have and it’s probably a sign of getting older or something but it makes me feel simultaneously insignificant and like everything matters. We get (call it) 80 years to be on this planet that knows how to spin and has airplanes and interesting birds and food you can order through your phone and brick buildings with cute clothes to buy… we get to see this whole life we have through a perspective that we create in our own mind and we get to decide what’s meaningful and what isn’t. We matter and we don’t matter in so many ways. Anyway, yeah, that’s the moon making me get real deep on a Friday morning.
Have a beautiful first weekend of 2025 ❤️
