Hey hi! Happy New Year. I hope this year has been wonderful so far. We kicked off with lots of misc sickness and I think we are on the other side.

1. We created some big, juicy goals over at Hummingbirds, but I didn’t take the time to create my own goals until Wednesday evening. I used Jules Acree’s Design Your Year template which I swear by because it’s Notion and I’m a Notion fan.

I mostly made it through the first half of the year, but most of them are all about establishing habits that support my energy. I got reeeeally good at budgeting on a daily basis end of 2022 through 2023, so I want to flex that muscle with food prep and feeling like I have a really strong grip on what I’m eating & preparing.

On top of that, I want to write more, I want to be “fit for Florence” in June 😂, and I want to host an epic 40th birthday party for my husband with our new backyard that I’m going to jazz up in the spring with plants, stringed lights, the whole shebang.

2. I was on the Career Contessa podcast which was really fun and meaningful. I talked all about growing / scaling a company in Iowa — it was sponsored by IEDA hence the subject, but I dive into how networking has been such a supportive part of my experience as an entrepreneur.

3. Everything is booked for Central America except our car rental in Costa Rica so it’s starting to feel really real that we’re heading out for the rest of winter after my baby turns one. Snagged these from Girlfriend Collective and made sure all my beauty / skincare essentials were fully stocked.

4. Brought on two new employees this week (met my Head of Marketing on the right, Jessica!) in Vegas last week. Figured why not start a new job off with a fun conference and amazing food. Middle is my Head of Sales, Mari. :) We’ve got a few more employees coming on board the next few weeks! It’s a wild time.

5. Finished my first book of 2024: Undaunted. It was a good one. Talk about perseverance and tackling the unknown / massive industry. This was so well written and I recommend for any founder needing a boost.
